JUSTJIG
I've been a carpenter for 25years and ever since the introduction does MDF door linings, there have been issues with chopping door keeps and bathroom door keeps. They are both very prone to splitting....and because the job is done at a late stage of the buildings construction, the frames don't get changed (the frames get glued)this really affects workmanship quality which in turn affects contractors reputation which will affect future contract possibilities, could also be the difference weather a construction is credited with an award or not....THIS IS A PROBLEM.
the jig set is very simple
Setting up the main Jig is simple you just need some curtain baton (22mm x 44mm)....there are a number of reasons why the baton was used instead of a right angled integrated main Jig
you can have slight adjustment (for wider doors)
the baton ton can be a lot longer than the main Jig to keep cramps out of the way
you can accurately test the depth of your router with markings on the baton and it won't blunt your bit or harm the Jig
can be dismantled to be stored flat
The JIG is designed for speed and ease of use you can use it on both flat and rebated frames it's adjustable for both 35mm (STANDARD DOORS) and 45mm (FIRE CHECK DOORS) You can router both stages of the keep..(the keep and the deeper back box)...without unclamping the main JustJig by simply changing the templates from first stage (keep) to the second stage (back box) this speeds up the whole keep routering process.

the jig set comes with 20 templates
The JIG set comes with 20 templates covering the mainstream market in door keeps (bathroom door latches and standard door latches) ...even if the keeps you are using are more bespoke you will find the find the templates very close so will only require minimal chiseling ....for example may just need to chisel 5mm top and bottom of the routed out keep the width will be the same....which will keep the integrity and strength of the MDF door lining.
the range of keeps the templates cover
There are 11 templates for keeps (7 bathroom,4 standard) and 9 templates for the back boxes
the main jig has 4 scribed Guide lines.
The centre line is for the standard door keeps....you align your desired height mark to the centre line to ensure a central router out recess.
The two two lines either side of the centre line are for bathroom door keeps....You align your desired height mark to one of these lines (which one depends on which way the door is hung) this is so the bathroom door keep is off centre, what this does is ensure when the door handles are fitted they are at the same height (or very close to the same height) as the standard doors.
The line running adjacent to the edge near the countersunk screw holes....this is a guide line for the timber edge when you are setting up the JIG for 35mm wide doors
THE TEMPLATES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SO THE ROUTED OUT KEEPS ARE SLIGHTLY OVERSIZED THIS IS TO ALLOW FOR PAINT ON THE FRAME SO NO MORE CHISELING IS REQUIRED IN THE FINAL FIX WHEN THE KEEPS ARE ATTACHED TO THE FRAMES.
FOR 45mm FIRE CHECK DOORS set the timber to the internal edge of the MAIN JIG.

I've been a carpenter for 25 years....this Jig paid for itself on the first 2nd fix.....saved me time and produced a quality finish....I wouldn't want to do another 2nd fix without the JustJig.
